Dealing with Staff Issues vis-à-vis The Miners Massacre in South Africa.

We have to send condolences to those families whose members were brutally murdered by a lack of co-operation from management.

Union Leader Joseph Mathunjwa

In my book A Cry For Help! – Context and Perspectives – Arabian Management Series – the book talked about:-

1       A Cry For Help Book Theme: –

A frank, honest, open and call-a-spade-a-spade no punch-spared, no barrels held stuff and no frills play book exposing the increasing lack of ethics, principles, professionalism and tolerance – plus increased radicalisation, extremism and fundamentalising of the Offices environment and in similar to the overall similar fast changing facts of the ground in the region.

2       The Book Talks About:-

Addressing the increased extremism, fundamentalism, and lack of tolerance and forbearance in the Arab workforce, Author Majid Al Suleimany presents A Cry for Help! Arabian Management Services — Context and Perspectives.

In three parts, A Cry for Help! concentrates on the management styles and aspects of companies located in the Arabian Gulf Cooperation Council that encompasses Oman, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

It discusses the:

  • Growing radicalization of local staff
  • Misbehaving expatriates
  • Unhappy, dissatisfied staff
  • Bad treatment of Staff especially by some Expatriates – mainly Indian, European and Western Staff on Locals
  • Increasing extremism and fundamentalism in The Offices
  • Sensitive, related issues

In A Cry for Help!, Majid Al Suleimany, A Management Expert, focuses on what is particular about the type of Arab management, its context and perspectives, and what is peculiar, special, or particular to that work in the context and comparison to management styles of other nations. Using personal experiences, examples, and illustrations, Suleimany exposes the new reality and truth and moves away from the trend and approach of hiding issues and problems.

“It is a unique book, written in a unique style. It is a soul-searching and critical evaluation of one’s own people in the field. He extols the culture and importance of work in his religion and the pitfalls and lackluster attitude of the Managers in position about the Principles and Process of Management.” – –

3        The Book is based on: –

The book is based on personal experiences and exposures stretching over 35 years – and 12 years as a Management and Human Resources Consultant, Advisor and Expert.

There are bad fish (apples) in each basket – but generally even if to be labeled naïve and non-suspecting – but the people are generally decent, nice and good.

Honestly and truthfully, I have had bad experiences with all the ex South Africans I had dealt with – even if peers – and unfortunately by default all were Whites – and left the country of South Africa to return to UK and now with British passports.

Two were males – one female. The female was the worst bxxyytredsaerr I had ever met in my life (excuse the language!) – and do not forget that they were expatriates in our own country. The way they treated Omanis us the locals was pretty awful and nasty – to say the least!

Yet I was a Senior peer and as a Consultant and Advisor. It was NO USE complaining to our more Senior Local Managers and The Boards even.

I am NOT A RACIALIST – because these things did really happen – even to me! But I was not surprised to see the massacre of these protesting miners – to say the least. I watched the callousness of the Management – and how they were talking about the massacre.

Admittedly the strike was illegal, there were union in-fights, and the miners too were very aggressive and forceful in their demands – but the end result in massacre – disproportionate – SHOULD NOT have happened in Independent Free South Africa!

It is a bloody shame and disgrace – to say the least!

And all the other happenings around the world – from Syria, India, Burma, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia …. And so on!
