Two Samples of The Works!

M.04          Open Forums – Or Entrapments?

When I was working for this Oil Company at one time there was this Open Forum that anyone Staff – even Locals – could write to The Top Guys in Shell International in London and The Hague!

The Local Management were ‘encouraged’ to allow their people also to ‘contribute’. In hindsight, I think it was more an ‘An Entrapment’ to see who of the local guys more active and vocal – with ‘Yours Truly’ on board!

I used to raise many issues related to Omanisation (Localisation), Training and Development and Recruitment and Job Opportunities for The Omani Youth! This really incensed the Local Admin Director who kept on saying that as HR you are in Management and ‘supposed to defend ‘Management’!

I retorted that I was not ‘attacking any Management of any sort’ and that as HR was ‘The Conscience Keeper’ of The Establishment – and that ‘freedom of expression’ was guaranteed to us in ‘The Forums’ I had every right to participate!

This made him more mad by my obstinacy and vocalism! I knew I was not going to be promoted being under him anyway – or even get a higher bonus – so why the heck? Let me enjoy myself! They could not fire me anyway because the ‘Laws of The Country’ protected us (then!) and also I was doing my job quite well – with exceptional of this added irritant – especially to him!

Like many (Office) Dictators, he thought I was doing this especially as ‘I was planning to instigate an uprising to overthrow him! L L !

One day he came to my Office to try a different approach to say even if he wanted to promote me he could not – because of this element! As he ‘heard’ I was doing a good job otherwise!

Anyway, I stopped contributing when I heard people ‘outside the Offices’ talking about this – and when one in Nigeria wrote to me to put his case of Shell causing environmental disasters in Warri and The Nile Delta! I realized things were turning sour and deadly – and soon after Locals were ‘no longer allowed’ to participate due to ‘pressures beyond their control and coming from Outside The Company!

M.05          The British Police Officer (in Oman)!

He was not in a Police Vehicle but though Police Registered the Peugeot 504 – always white colour – and I was behind him in my Toyota Crown when he went through a No Entry sign near The Offices Bank in those days. He came across to me on the other side of the road – again crossing a No Entry Sign as he blocked me as I was coming in!

He was fuming mad – and breathing heavily? He asked me why did I blow my car horn at him? As he was in Police Uniform? I said meekly to him – because as a Police Officer you had violated Traffic Rules – and you should know better! Whilst all the time putting a ‘brave front’ whilst shaking all inside! He wanted my Driving License and my PDO card. I was at first reluctant – but then I gave him.

He told me he was a ‘Personal Friend’ of a Top Public Official (also British!) and he will tell the MD about me! He wrote down my full name – my Personnel Number – and my Department!

Later on the good MD called me in his Office for a private chat – his good advice to be careful because ‘these guys (then!) could have you arrested for several days – or weeks even – without taking you to Court – even if you were right! It is his words against your – and guess whom The Judge will believe! He said tome things of ‘reality’ which even today I will not be able to put down here! L !

I found it strange and odd when he (The Police Official) said to me – As Officers in case of Emergencies – we can break the Laws! I do not know if going to the Bank was an emergency – unless it was only for him! L!

In some countries in Africa, you do not get anything done unless you give a bribe! Even a Salary Letter to the Bank – you have to bribe the Company HR and Finance – and even the Bank to receive the letter. The request for a present or bribe are not subtle and ‘not implied’ – but open, blunt and frank. These crooked officials would prefer even their planes where they are employed fly empty or half full – then give you a deserving ticket at market prices!

In my dealings lately with some officials in Private Companies (and even State of The Art National Prestigious ones!) I have noticed increasing delinquencies, inefficiencies and incompetences bordering one would imagine a bribe or present is in order for your work to be done. I do not go to Public Offices anymore -–I let my son do that for me now! Guess things there are even more unmentionable!

What is happening to us? Is it just envy, jealousy and ‘The Usual Haassiydyn’ that someone is getting something and as if that thing is coming direct from your own pocket – and not from the Company?

I am talking here of a Management Decision (usually Expatriate led or influenced!) of the Company buying some of my books – but The Omani Director and Manager pass the buck between himself (herself) and subordinates – and it is usually The CSR, HR, Procurement and Finance Departments playing the dirty ugly official games!

If you write to The Director he abruptly responds see below copied. And you call and call them – they do not respond – till you use an unfamiliar number (house Telephone or children housemaid gsms)…and the abrupt response is – we are working on it – you just have to wait! Angrily and Usually a young Omani boy or girl (The New Blood per se!) who forgets his upbringing, culture, heritage, values and customs to respect a Senior Omani by age at least!

It is a Bloody Shame what we have become! More hurtful of us who have been fighting all of our lives to promote and fight for The Youth Employment, Omanisation, Training and Development per se!

The chickens have come home to roost – or what goes around; comes around! A Deserving End!

Allah God Help us all Ameen Amen. Take Care!

Bare Necessities of Life!

28 - Front Cover A 27 Front Cover A 29 - Life Story

For 2 weeks now in the middle of town in so-called posh area of PDO Qorum Heights we are being tortured slowly to death by disrupting main public water system. Yet if we delay to pay the utilities bills they come down fast in disconnections. You cannot have it both ways and please note the element of fear has long died by now people No Longer Afraid!

The sad and tragic part of these Officials – they do not even care when you complain!

This is a cinder fire burning underneath before it again explodes out in the open! Shame yet we want Tourism and Railways!

Where is the water first? Heads need to roll…fast!

Maybe we need to replace also The Contractors Engineers and Technicians .. have been dominating so much and do not care or feel anymore!

It was Pervez ex Pakistan President who said that people are interested only in basic necessities in life like food water housing electricity and security…and nobody cares about infrastructure high buildings roads railways etc…If you do not get it right in the first instance…then you you have a BIG problem on your hands…He should know!

Focus on entrepreneurship Observer today….and so on! So sad and tragic!

Now at 9.30 am not even one drop of water in 2 water gallons of 600 gallons each! What is this? Where is The Leadership? Waiting for more photos and press coverage? Bloody Shame on our country…bloody If they cannot do their job – those responsible must resign on their own…or be terminated! Bloody shame!

Frankly I think it is time to consider looking for greener pastures outside…especially us Retirees!

The Lyrics

The Bare Necessities

Look for the bare necessities

The simple bare necessities

Forget about your worries and your strife

I mean the bare necessities

Old Mother Nature’s recipes

That brings the bare necessities of life

Wherever I wander, wherever I roam

I couldn’t be fonder of my big home

The bees are buzzin’ in the tree

To make some honey just for me

When you look under the rocks and plants

And take a glance at the fancy ants

Then maybe try a few

The bare necessities of life will come to you

They’ll come to you!

Look for the bare necessities

The simple bare necessities

Forget about your worries and your strife

I mean the bare necessities

That’s why a bear can rest at ease

With just the bare necessities of life

Now when you pick a pawpaw

Or a prickly pear

And you prick a raw paw

Next time beware

Don’t pick the prickly pear by the paw

When you pick a pear

Try to use the claw

But you don’t need to use the claw

When you pick a pear of the big pawpaw

Have I given you a clue ?

The bare necessities of life will come to you

They’ll come to you!

So just try and relax, yeah cool it

Fall apart in my backyard

‘Cause let me tell you something little britches

If you act like that bee acts, uh uh

You’re working too hard

And don’t spend your time lookin’ around

For something you want that can’t be found

When you find out you can live without it

And go along not thinkin’ about it

I’ll tell you something true

The bare necessities of life will come to you

The Fear of Failing! The Said Article Not Published! 1

The Fear of Failing!

February 11, 2017

I wrote this article 2 years ago! It became like an omen a prophecy of what happened to me later in a space of a year – falling first into a coma state in Royal Hospital whilst I was in ICU this bank and an Omani Court had placed a case against me for my Consultancy that had gone bankrupt bust 15 years ago in 2001!

Nothing has changed much in Oman – and still happening to date!

If The Leadership are real serious – they need to read this article as a start!

Between Us Only!

The Fear of Failing!

Failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently! – Henry Ford

Success isn’t about how much money you make, it’s about the difference you make in people’s lives – Michelle Obama

Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm – Winston Churchill

I was talking to my children and The Younger Generation born post 1970s after HM Ascension and trying to convince them that the time was ripe and opportune for them to go into business – as there were great support now for being Self Employed and for SMEs! I reminded them of HE Dr. Sunaidy’s great offerings like being paid within 28 days; the great financial support from RAFD and others; reserved 10% slot for Public Contracts; relaxation of Omanisation for 2 years amongst many others! But yet people are still reluctant to go ‘the route of SMEs’ – and I tried to find out more from them for the reasons why?

One of the major fears and concerns that they have in their young minds is ‘in making it to be successful in their business endeavours’ – and the requirements for them to be fully involved and occupied in their businesses. That is in losing their jobs and confirmed incomes – and in trying something different – and certainly more scary and fearsome! The start and the middle going parts are the more easier ones – but the ending and final parts scare them to pieces! What if I fail? What will happen to me? What will happen to people owing me money? Especially The Banks and The Lenders?

They have seen what can happen to their elders ‘that have failed in businesses’ – even if it was unplanned and as a result of conditions inadvertently beyond their conditions – like bidding for a contract and getting it – but your estimates for the bid turns out by hidden or unexpected turn of events costs to be far much more than you had tendered for or realised in expectations – which has happened many times in reality and as a matter of fact.

There is also this element that ‘people dread to touch getting into SMEs businesses ‘even by a long pole’ is the stereotyping of local companies – even more worse for SMEs! Unfortunately and sadly too by our own Stakeholders and Decision Makers in undercutting and failing to ‘value and recognise’ our own capabilities, potentials, skills and talents!

Also it has been known and to also be practicised even too – that we are very hard and rigid on our own – but can turn ‘the other cheek’ and be more flexible and open to Outsiders – even more to The International ones! Sadly, the same Job Scope and Tasks they can expect (and do receive many times!) to get even 3 or 4 times the amounts that the local companies or SMEs can ever hope to receive! We fail dismally to value and esteem our own more – and this ‘disease’ is what is killing people to venture out into business – the ‘disease of envy, jealousy and polarisation’ even!

But that is not the only scary part! The more scary part ‘is if you finally fail’! All hell is let loose – and even your ‘own personal freedom and movement’ is at risk – in addition to facing so many legal and other issues too! You cannot try to convince people – despite all the talk and rhetoric – because they have seen it still happen to their parents, family and elders! That at the time when ‘you most need help and from The Banks’ – they abandon you one by one!

I have always made this joke about someone with a big tray of meat (chicken, fish) Biriyani with him – yet he wants a small bite and share of you with a small plate of sandwich (samosas) – and he is not ‘happy with you if you deny him the indulgence’ – people who have already made it and rich enough just do not let things go ‘with wandering eyes’ of what more they could have – and if you are disagreeable or not forthcoming to share – they can make things pretty awkward, hard and difficult for you – to start the spiral of going out of control and eventually in making wrong decisions to start losing and in failing! You never know what is out there – and what can happen!

My advice and counsel to The Younger Generations is still to try to go into SMEs and give it your best shot – and do not be scared by failing – because it is a way of learning to do things better in another way. Wishing you all the very best!

Images – Smoking Ladies! – For Demonstration Purposes Only!

On 25 Aug 2014 22:10,  a good reliable friend (source) sent me this email – about her experiences with some Foreign Arab (Levant) Ladies. Will reproduce verbatim as is self explanatory!

QUOTE –

Dear Majid,

After what had happened to me today I immediately thought of sharing this with you – it might not be the kind of story you want to write in your news forum – please do write it for the sake of omani women.

It all started when I took my kids for swimming in Al Khalili swimming in Al khuwair near the Egyptian school. As usual it was ladies time and the pool was filled with mums and kids – most of the kids were below 5 years of age.  As soon as my girls were changed and in the pool – I took a chair to sit and observe them – then this terrible smell of cigarette started – and in the middle of all kids and other mums were these 4 (shami) ladies smoking. I approached them and politely requested if they want to smoke they should go outside the pool area – they ignored me – so again I explained its not allowed to smoke in such public area where small kids are exposed to smoking – I could not believe their own kids who are like 3 to 5 were just there playing and breathing all the smoke like its nothing.

Ok – back to my story – the lady smoker just looked up at me and gave that look  like nothing happened – I gave her an empty cup and told her in a firm tone – please put that cigarette out. the other shami lady was like its not your business so I lost it and took the cigarette from her mouth and threw down and stepped on it. then they all started attacking me – like smoking was a great thing – I could not believe it they all took cigarettes and I kept repeating its not allowed to smoke there are kids here and they were – this is our rights – so I said what right?? you have no right to smoke between all these small kids – all these other mums do not appreciate what you are doing – they were saying well if you don’t like our smoking then leave the pool!!

Imagine then, she says if we were american you would not have said a thing – so i said if you were american you would have respect for other people – and she said listen – you omani women – you are not like us – we have rights – so I said what rights?? smoking rights? and she answered the moment your rights ends our rights begin. so I said Alhamdullilah I am Omani in Oman so my rights will not end for stupid women like you who fight for smoking like its a wonderful thing. Imagine they had hijabs on and they say – then let Oman ban the swimming costume if they can not allow women to smoke.  so I said we respect that and that is why we have a women day.

I told her off – Lady you may smoke to your death in your home surrounded by your kids but here in public place where there are other women and very small children you should not smoke and don lecture me about rights and i never heard of women rights to smoke maybe in Syria but not in Oman.

and she started swearing on omani women – you omani women you have no thaqafa – thank god we dont have it – if it means we smoke in front of our kids. I have not seen such disrespectful women like shami women – they are rude and just because they do not have values in their country they do not respect other people’s values.

Please majid if you ever get chance put this on your blog.

Leave The Gazan People Alone! Reply

Leave The Gazan People Alone!

Or Live and Let Live!

I am writing this as a human being – and a citizen of the land – and with rights and freedom to express myself – though trust me – I hate ‘politics’ for sure – and even in writing it!

Writing is a struggle against silence. Carlos Fuentes

This article was written on November 5 2012 with the last invasion. If you read it all over again – it is history repeating itself against the biggest prison camp in the world of Gaza – whilst so-called Democracy and Freedom Preachers and their Associates and The Hypocrites look the other way – because they are more afraid of people rather than God Allah SWT! Shame on all of them – especially The Hypocrites!

Horrific Gaza Images – Family of 10 killed in their home!

As a small boy of 5 years of age I used to wonder out aloud this tease from the African elders that they used to make after a hawk (eagle) has scooped down and taken up in the air the hurriedly and scurriedly running for cover baby chickens with its mother. Even the cock used to run too – instead of facing its ground the adversary! The tease (joke) was that the chickens were cursing that ‘May the sky fall on the eagle!’ You cannot blame the Mother Chicken for saying that seeing its baby has already been taken away by the hawk! It is a desperate vain attempt to go on with life – with all the hawks around!

You will excuse me for the also simile and the metaphor – especially to those that love and defend our adversaries in privacy and in secrecy – whilst pretending and acting in front of us for whatever reason like wishing to keep the job and welcome etc. But if I was a play or drama writer – and I had money to spare – I would write this satirical tragical drama of how the so-called Israeli leaders find themselves lumped together and meeting Hitler in burning eternal hell – and their protesting that a grave and serious mistake has been made! Only this time of all the machinations and schemers of their controlling media and their supporters would not work – because it is God that they are facing now!

Horrific Gaza Images – Family of 10 killed in their home!

In my life one thing that I hate the foremost is in ‘cursing people’ – but I can easily curse those people that do not see much or a great deal of killed babies, children and women – and even men – when bombs rain down on their homes – and killing entire families at one go! Sometimes I feel that even if he is in Hell – but Hitler and his Nazi cronies cannot afford but smile seeing his victims ‘doing it also to other peoples’!

Horrific Gaza Images – Family of 10 killed in their home!

You will excuse me also for sounding religious and all the semantics and similes involved – and for those that do not know it – or know but prefer to marginalise and to ignore! But our Great Prophet Abraham (Ibrahim) – peace be upon him – is turning in his grave seeing his grandchildren doing these things to each other! I am saying this as a Grandfather feels seeing sometimes my innocent young grandchildren fight each other – and with typical ‘chip of the old block’ feelings and expressions like ‘do not like you’ escapades and remarks!

Horrific Gaza Images – Family of 10 killed in their home!

I am very certain and convinced that there would be some people saying to me that you are only looking at one side of the story – and not both sides – and ‘we expected better things from you’! I would retort that is how they control their media and our minds and outlooks – because Israel (and their supporters – disappointing others again – too soon too!) – are very good in pushing things to the maximum – and when people react – unfortunately negatively and to their disadvantage – they start ‘history and episodes’ from these incidents – and not from the start of what they did! Sadly and with great hurt and sadness too their blind supporters of whatever Israel is doing to others.

When Saddam Hussein attacked Iran (the Mullahs!) we in the Arab world remained quiet and passive – though we were warned and cautioned that one day he will do the same to us when that was over. Either we ignored it – or thought it could never happen – but it did happen in the invasion of Kuwait – and all Hell was let loose!

It seems to me that once again we have not learnt our lessons of history. I am saying that with due respects to both sides of the equation – that wants to divide the Islamic world into contrasting and conflicting political zones! And if those that see what is happening in Gaza now do not awake up from this deep sleep and slumber – then let them sleep for good and not wake up ever again – because a person who can do this to your own brother ‘is definitely not your ally and or friend either! And you have got your priorities all mixed-up and all wrong!

And that brings me to my next point I wish to make here too! The biggest casualty and victim in such wars is The Truth! It is just degrading and shameful – I would even say disgusting, repugnant and pathetic when ‘people in leadership’ who should know better take side to support blindly what the true Aggressor is doing to other human beings! Also to both sides not to make a worse situation turn even more worse!

If the Arab spring uprisings have not forewarned and w\’woken them up’ – let me try a desperate last attempt in resuscitation! Which is this! Even the young Arab true blood (and even Muslim) abhor and are disgusted to see what is going on – and done to other people by these peoples – who were themselves holocaust victims – but have now easily and conveniently forgotten. Our Great Prophet Moses (Musa) is just another chapter in the history!

What I mean to say that future relationships between people – especially with the young ones – are critically damaged – and that is not only internationally and globally – but even internal too. The world now has become a more dangerous and unsafe place with all that is going on – and the increased extremism, fundamentalism and radicalisation – and sadly and tragically with the younger ones too – and the future leaders in society

People should learn to live and let live – and we have enough problems and hardships already to be increased by such unneeded wars, destructions, malaise, decadence and wastages of wars. And we will all die one day – and meet our Maker! If you had escaped the Human Rights courts of the world – there is definitely a Higher Judge just waiting for you – and that will be the day when you meet him!

I would advise Israelis and all their supporters to hear the interview between Sir Robert Frost and Bishop Desmond Tutu in Al Jazeera – posted here too in www.majidwrite.com – and time to change fast before it is too late!

May peace, understanding, tolerance, co-existence and patience prevail – including pragmatism and senses – Amin Amen! Take Care!

New Middle East Realities on the Ground! Reply

New ME Realities on the Ground!

  • Kill one Palestinian every one hour!Israel New FaceBook Advert!
  • Death to Arabs! – and Arabs get out! (To Where?)
  • The Palestinians are the only occupied peoples’ lands left in the world now!
  • Western USA blind support for Israel? Sustainable?

An Israeli woman holds a sign with the images of the three missing Israeli teenagers in Tel vai 2 (2)

I personally remember reading this article during the Apartheid time in South Africa of this White Policeman confronting a group of rowdy misbehaving drunk Black South Africans. In the usual past, the Blacks used to ‘fear the Whites’ – especially the Police and Armed Security Forces! But not this time! The White Policeman was killed – with many as indicating that it was an ominous Omen signal ‘of the end of Fear’ from the majority South Africans – and the beginning of the end of the Apartheid system!

Soon the majority South Africans formed their First Black Majority Government under Late Nelson Mandela.

Our Islamic Religion clearly says that the ‘killing of one innocent person’ is like killing of the Ummah (Nation). Whoever was behind the ill-advised kidnapping and the senseless slaughter of the three Israeli Settlers only history will tell and in The Truth! But with so many Palestinians still in Israeli jails – some radical elements (they are on both sides of the divide!) may be tempted to try as ransom or swap as was with the Israeli soldier in the past.

Suspicions are also highly raised why the Israeli government has been coming down hard on the Unification Agreement of The Palestinians – it is none of their business – as similarly with the Palestinians which (radical extreme) parties form the Israeli government!

When I watched the episode of Killing The Count in Al Jazeera Television – Israeli extremists and fundamentalists are capable of ‘even killing the same person who had saved thousands of Jewish lives from The Holocaust – and who was on a United Nations Mission to bring peace in the Middle East then!

Forgive me – but I am not a Political or Military Expert – but it is not Nuclear Science what I am going to say next here – with due apologies! My records also speak for themselves as so-called Moderate Arab believing still there are possibilities of peace and stability within designed secure borders between Palestinians and The Israelis!

If Israel wants to live in peace and harmony with people in this part of the world – they have to change their attitudes and approaches that they are The Chosen Race – and dealing with inferior lower end people – and they are The Superior Race! Where did we hear this before? Oh yes – under the Nazi thugs under Hitler – The Aryan Race – and what followed next of The Holocaust = where more than 6 million Jews were massacred by the Nazis!

The Israelis also know quite well that the Arabs (Muslims) actually protected them from other persecutors – including the Roman Empire. Facts of history recorded and proved – which makes the Arabs (Muslims) as THE ONLY ethnic group that had never participated in the massacre of Jews!

And the problem of the Jews is considering the Arabs as inferior ‘as the descendants’ of the slave woman – even if they are both descendants of Prophet Abraham (Ibrahim RA) and Prophets Ismael RA and Izhaq RA! The same grandfather – and the same Semitic peoples on the face of the earth – this putting it simply!

When I was in holidays in Zanzibar some years ago – I met this Tourist very pretty girl – who was speaking in ‘broken Arabic’ to the Hotel Manager – Omani descendant! So I asked her from which Arab country do you come from – and that is the point I want to make here – even in Television – unless you are told – could either be Arab – or Jew – especially The Sherpadi (?) Jews! She thought it very funny – and when I told her I am from Oman – she said to me – ‘then you and me should not talk to each other’ – to which I retorted – actually we should – because we are ‘first cousins’ – and she told me when she goes back to Israel she will tell everyone about it – because it is ‘a New One’ she had never heard before!

Which brings me to the point of my article here.

The Israelis went on shooting and killing young Palestinians with mass arrests – including people that they should talk to – not to arrest! I speak my mind – call a spade a spade! I do not beat around the bush!

They never thought the Palestinians (or whoever!) would dare touch the three kidnapped victims – because they then would lose the bargaining powers hey had by keeping them alive. But instead their excesses led to their deaths.

The element of fear – and supremacy – are now gone forever! Is this an ominous sign of more things to come in the future? As Barack Obama had said – both sides have to make hard difficult decisions – because the situation is no longer sustainable.

With the new realities on the ground – both sides have to realize this – before it is too late for everyone – and what has been happening so far will just be ‘a storm in a tea cup’!

A Personal Message To My Readers! Reply

Message To My Fans & Readers!

Dear All & After Compliments;

Ramadhan Kareem!

Whenever I go out (which is rarely nowadays!) and in social gatherings – I get the same questions – again and again – as to when my articles in Between Us Only! series in The Oman Daily Observer will resume? Or if I had tried the other newspapers like Times of Oman and Muscat Daily? I have – but did not succeed!

I used to write for Muscat Daily a few years ago with the Column Title At My Workplace! After a series of articles – and as I was under the impression of getting payments? – they said NO to me because they thought ‘I was just volunteering for free’! Nobody gives you lunch nowadays for free – so why with my articles!

Frankly I have tried hard with The Oman Daily Observer – but the new people there (The Old Guards and The Mafias Joint Scheme) are dead set against my articles – started with a ‘technicality’ to reduce my column schedule for only one per week! I had two columns – one Between Us Only! on Sundays and At The Workplace! (Offices Related) on Wednesdays. They started by removing the columns headings – so it showed I was writing two columns under one name! I refused to reduce my columns sequences – because we had a valid written enforceable contract – and two sides must agree to any changes! This was sidelined and marginalized – because no one in his right senses and mind can sue a Governmental Newspaper – and expect any favourite results – or inadvertently consequences and repercussions per se!

See what I am saying is this!

First – The East Africans say – If someone wants to insult you – he does not need to choose his words carefully! Because anything will do (go) – because the sole purpose is ‘just to insult you’! There is also the expression that if you are a guest in a house – the host does not need to tell you to go – and you have exceeded your welcome! Body signs and mannerisms would just do the trick for you to get the signals – that it is time for you to go now!

Also the expression – if someone denies you beans (mbaazi) he only reduces your gas (mishuuzi!) – with due apologies. Forget for now – Utakioona kilicho mtoa khanga manyoya! Now you will see how the turkey lost its feathers! Like most metaphors – it means something much bigger than just literal meaning!

Second – there is nothing that I have not covered in my 13 years duration with the said newspapers! Nothing – simply put! Even taboo subjects that most writers are scared to even border – let alone touch!

Third – All my articles are in my books. You can order them directly if you wish! Even the bookshops returned my books – and one is so notorious (expatriate) to even have called me to say – Come and take your books – they are just occupying space – and NOBODY wants to buy them!

This kind of thing can ONLY happen in Oman – because we are docile people – scared stiff of certain groups of expatriates that have come to dominate, control and rule us – that we bend backwards ‘in order just to look nice and sound pleasant’! – and we all compete for places to sound nice and good to them.

Mind you the majority of the expatriates are good decent nice people – who appreciate and respect the welcome and reception given to them as ‘invited guests’ in our country! But there are a few misguided and supported by some forces internally that think and act otherwise – and these are the people that do most harm and damages – and that includes stopping their few who dare to speak shut up – so we can still control and dominate them for longer still!

Allah God Help and Protect Preserve us all – Ameen Amen!

Fourth – You can still order my books directly as here below:-

Fifth – Let me rest now! I am tired banging my head against brick walls – and making it red and bruised only! Besides, I am dead tired – and have learnt to let go of all the Excess Baggage I have been carrying for so long – and the losers is only my family and I!

I have learnt to accept my fate – and whatever will come – let it come now!

I have been known to have said so many times in the past – I told you so! But you did not listen to me! I can still say that once again – if needed to be said!

The Romans have said – Those that the gods want to destroy – they make them not see, hear or speak! Or us Arabs – There is no one so blind but with eyes – but cannot see! So deaf but with ears – but cannot hear! And so dumb – but with a mouth – but cannot speak!

A good friend (British) once advised cautioned me – if you were in Saddam Team – you would have ended shot – as the first ones too!

Let me rest now. I am now 65 – with different priorities – and the paramount now is my family – my children and grandchildren!

Please forgive me and with my due sincere and genuine apologies!

Take Care!

Ramadhan Kareem!

Best Wishes and Regards,

The Need To Be Really Serious!

On 7th June 2014 by Allah God Blessing I became 65 years old! Allah God Is Merciful! Allah Is Compassionate! Ameen Amen

A very good Indian friend of mine called me to wish me birthday greetings and to talk about the advertisement I had put in the newspapers as below –

Omani HR Management Consultant Expert Advisor UK educated and trained retired PDO 25 years experiences all aspects HR Training Development Omanisation etc. looking for temporary job 8 to 1 pm or Project work majid@majidsuleimany.com

Typically, he asked me if anyone from his company had contacted me – because being in Management – he knew that they were looking for a full time experienced HR Professional (Omani) but have still not found one that was meeting their requirements and expectations! He wondered aloud with me as ‘to why they did not grab this opportunity’ being thrown at them? I said I would not do – but he should know better as he was working for the Company – and he was in Management himself!

Frankly, I have received some offers that included:-

  • Selling Life and Insurance policies.
  • Logistics (Temporary job) related.
  • Sort of Senior PRO job (Temporary) – You have driving license Omani?
  • Customs Clearances job!
  • Other jobs not related to Human Resources
  • Petty offers for real HR jobs that they will not even pay lower end Visiting Consultants and Experts – but can be offered to Omanis – by fellow Top Omanis Owners, Managers – and also Expatriate ones too!

Nothing has changed much on the ground – and the mindsets have remained unmovable and unchanged – despite changes all around them – and all the rhetoric and façade of pushing Human Resources, Training and Development, Omani Recruitment and in Omanisation aspects!

As a LinkedIn member, I get so many requests from young Omanis for connections – ‘Looking For A Job’! My heart breaks out and burns when I look at their profiles and I find that many are educated and qualified – but lack work experiences! Still yet no one has come forward to offer them a break or an opportunity! I know of certainty of my niece educated and trained in Oman in a Omani College with Omani Credentials and Qualifications in Human Resources – two years down the line – with No Job Offer – despite HR being the rage – and most talked after subject – even before SMEs and Self Employment per se!

Many of them have had their families educate and train them – or now have to pay back Educational Assistance loans that they have taken from the Banks – which places a heavy burden on their families – causing rifts and strife at home – even bordering domestic violence syndromes! Some have lived very difficult and hard lives – in order to survive in teaching and educating their children! Some have even sold their villas and extra cars in order to improvise and survive – with no let out or light at the end of the tunnel! With family strife – and breaking up of the families – and their youngsters jobless wandering off ‘to lost give up ways’ – bad company, drugs and violence trends!

Every day I look at the newspapers – and find adverts from ‘Visiting Oman’ Applicants looking for a job – many of them highly qualified and experienced – and who are ready to accept far low packages offer ‘if they work at home’ – or not formally linked to the employing companies!

The bitter truth is that many of the General Managers and CEOs are Expatriate controlled – and even the few ones by locals are by The Old Guards that prefer ‘no rocking of the boat’ – and want expatriates under them so they can ‘control them’. Similarly the Expatriate ones want meek docile not strong characters Omanis under them – more as a window shopping exercise – and for façade, showoff and rhetoric mainly!

That is why they prefer to promote ex HES, PRO and Admin Clerks as HR Managers – so they can do their bidding – and can agree to be controlled – both by The Expatriate Mafia = and The Weak distrusting Old Guards – that simply do not value our own – and like I always say in my writings – like that General that ‘shoots at his own troops’ or ‘friendly fire’ in military terms! Forget about ‘collateral damage’ for a change!

How long can these things go on before the cinder fire burning heatedly deep inside explodes?

Yet we see all around the havoc and destructions live on Television – from neighbouring countries to far – some brewing internally – and some already on the surface – starting from a minor thing like 20 students graffiti to ‘destruction of the whole country’ – to farcial elections of new leaderships in failing environments – with more to come still?

Like the Arabs say too – No one is deaf but with ears but cannot hear – blind with eyes but cannot see – and with a mouth but cannot speak! Or allow others to speak! Or as The Romans say – Those that the gods want to destroy – they make them not hear, see or speak!

If things can be done to Senior Qualified Experienced Omanis – even in High Places – that should know better – and lead by examples – away from repeating things in rhetoric and façade – acts and pretenses – like in Animal Farm by George Orwell – the Fundamental and Big Question to ask here is –

How can the Young Omani fare in The Private Sector with everything working against him all around!

You be The Judge – and You Answer The Question!

No wonder they wanted to Kill off my columns as soon as they could!.

This is My Last Call! I am really – really – really tired banging my head against brick walls – and making it swollen and red only – and The Real Loser – again and again – is me personally and my direct family only!

We Need to Be Really Serious – before it is too late for everyone – and we lost that thing that we dearly loved and valued – by not preserving it – letting it grow and prosper – by our selfishness, bad hearts and intentions – by polarization – and failing to  –

Stand as One! Under One Flag – One Nation – One HM!

Destroying all his Great Works – and failing to appreciate and value his personal sacrifices – that has made us today hold our heads high with dignity, respect and esteem!

May Allah God Direct us all to The Straight Path and Way – Ameen Amen

I did not put any pictures – because ALL THESE THINGS I HAVE SAID BEFORE!

THIS IS MY LAST CALL!

Rewind! Need For A National Service Force!

Need For A National Service Force!

I am watching this Television News coverage of a father in Turkey who is very proud of his son who is by his side and who is curtailing his further studies in University in order to join the Turkish Army to fight for his homeland with the perceived threat from The PKK – The Kurdish Workers Fighters – who are demanding for a separate home land or more autonomy; depending on your point of view. The Reporter makes a statement that the Turkish youngsters are all interested to join the Eastern flank where there are frontline activities with the PKK, rather than the Northern flank where there is no activity of any kind.

Apart from the sad and tragic fact that a supposedly majority Islamic army (be it secular in outlook and focus per se) is fighting a supposedly rebellious Islamic fighter force (something that seems to be now regular in other countries too), what else gives? Nothing new or strange here. We do not know what will happen next if Turkey will go ahead and attack North Iraq (Kurdistan), but we sure know now that Pakistan has declared a State of Emergency!

If you look at the Israeli Army, a population of less than 4 million peoples is able to put at bay larger Army population of several Arab countries. Forgetting for a moment that they are fully backed by The Western World, and even discreetly by even countries like Russia and The ex Eastern block countries (and some other countries of The rest of the world too for that matter); it raises a paramount fundamental question of how and why this is possible. Forgetting also the valid pertinent point that when you fight to defend your homeland, than the person who is attacking or maybe perceived to be attacking you for that matter.

If you look at our young Arab youth, and is not fair to assume, generalize and stereo type – but you will find that they are looking for quick gains, results and achievements at the shortest of time available and at minimum exertion, efforts and input too. Send some graduate for a professional course and he comes back saying he is now experienced and needs more power, authority and promotion.

I have interviewed in my career time graduates in some places, and they are all interested in what perks and facilities that they will get, instead of what inputs, efforts and drive they will have to put in before they can be respected, recognised and to be acknowledged. I am talking here generally – let me make myself very crystal clear. Youth are youth – I fully agree – whether Arab or Jewish! No dispute here. And true as human beings we tend to criticize and analyse more those we know better than those we do not know. The maxim ‘Familiarity breeds contempt’ did not just come out from the blue!

For all fits and purposes, the young Jewish graduates may not be any different from the Arab one per se! No one amongst us can know or tell. But how many Arab youths have you seen that would volunteer to join a regular Arab Army and go and fight and die for a national cause? Forget for a moment the suicide bombers, who have been twisted their frames of minds and thoughts to kill, maim and murder innocent victims like children queuing up for chocolates and sweets, even if those sweets are from the ‘enemy’?. Or people looking for a job to feed their families are blown up into pieces. Or trying to sell or buy items in the market, or board a bus for whatever reason.

These are wasted and destroyed resources that could have been used and been utilized better, than such wastages, destruction and uselessness. The enemy is not your own brother or sister, even if he or she acts different from you or believes slightly different from you. There is a bigger cause and fight to be made, and not in this way. The enemy is the person who has invaded and occupied your country, not the one who is just hapless and innocent impotent person like that you are, though you have twisted minds and frames not to realize this. You are killing and wiping off the very same person who is against like you are, or striving to live and be as best as he can.

I have studied hard on my own the incidents of the 6 day war in 1967. I studied hard the one in 1973. I studied hard the invasion of Kuwait by Saddam Hussein. And I studied hard the invasion of Iraq by flimsy excuse and reasons of WMD – which up to day are missing. What should wake us all up is the fight and resistance put up by the Lebanese Hezbollah youth in the South against a regular Army force – the most powerful and most feared power force in The Middle East today – The Israeli army!

Let us forget for a minute whether we support or not their philosophies or outlook. They and Hamas and the Iranian youth. Like them or hate them, it does not matter. Even for them for that matter. They too have not forgotten the expression of ‘finish off the job’ to bring them down under control, ridicule, ruin and or reduce their areas of influence and control. Not all the things they did could be supported or cordoned, like sending off missiles blindly and inadvertently and unfortunately killing off and maiming Arab residents, be that they are Israeli Arabs or not.

What am I talking about here? I am talking about the readiness and willingness of Arab youth to be ready and fight for their countries, whether under direct threat or perceived threat. Look at Iran being under threat from powerful nuclear powers, but are not scared or afraid. You may like to call it obstinacy or whatever else. Like my late grandfather used to say – the child cries for a blade or a match box, do not deny him. He will cut or burn himself, which is the way they will learn!

Did we learn before in 1967? In 1973? Even lately cases like Kuwait invasion? Like Iraq invasion? No, we still are defiant and obstinate. We still use threats and defiant languages. We will stand our grounds, stay and fight – we say loud and clear. Necessity is the mother of invention, as the Kuwaiti youths found out to defend their homeland from Saddam army.

Let us try to learn from the enemy. What is it that they are doing that makes them fight, stand their grounds and gets them protected and preserved? It is the National Service that they have. All youth and of graduates and higher education joining the regular army for some years. They get trained and fight alongside the regular army. They become disciplined, cultured and matured by such training. And they become a recognizable and acknowledged force that can tackle almost everything on their own.

When they finish their compulsory military training, they return to civilian lives, but at a press of button can resort back to a reserved recognizable and acknowledged fighting force, to be respected and even feared too. Some of the Arab countries have such National Services. But I do not know I have to admit how it works. I know of a fact only that some Arab students I studied with in UK failed their examinations purposely and willingly – because they did not want to return home to join their National Service, and leave behind their British girlfriends and the UK way of life!

There are some counties in Africa who had copied the Israeli model. They join the regular army for 9 months, and go to work in civilian lives but still wearing the National Service uniforms for 2 years. Then they go for a pass out parade for one month, and become reserve forces. Some may even like the Army life, and look for a future in The Armed Forces or The Police. One sure way to reduce unemployment, and get more highly educated and trained youth in the military forces!

We can start the whole process by a Volunteer force, but we may need to encourage more to come by making it more attractive and enticing to join. When our enemies realize that we have youth in the populace that are disciplined, trained and ready to fight and die for the motherland, they will think twice if not thrice before trying to take advantage of us! It will no doubt instill respect, esteem, culture and values of society if the military training will include these subjects in the curriculum.

All the training must be accompanied with the right religious, social and national indoctrination in order to make the youth be away from wrong mind concepts and being hijacked and controlled wrongly in thoughts and mind by miscreants and ‘lost peoples’.. The National Service should include the women too, who can have their own forces separate from men, in line with our values, culture, heritage and customs.

An idea to seriously think about and consider, I should think??

Thoughts and views most welcome!

N.B. The article was written on November 7th 2007 and was rejected by the newspaper – The Oman Daily Observer – as too ‘political cum radical’!

Today UAE, Qatar and Kuwait are planning for A National Service for its citizens!
