This is the Author’s 10th book – and book 6 in the Between Us Only! series. The book follows up on the success of the previous books and furthers the idea of private talks between friends on matters that many are too scared to touch! Often times delving into sensitive critical topics that aren’t always sweet, this enlightening book uses a clear and elegant prose to explore social evils in the society as well as their light hearted counterparts. Covering a variety of priceless topics, this wonderful collection of articles gives readers everywhere a glimpse into the issues that are prevalent in today’s society.

Although the book is based mainly on Oman and The GCC, many of the topics are of universal application and appeal – with the increasing lack of tolerance, radicalization and fundamentalism in society. The book also carries many family, offices and human based articles that are applicable to us all – as bottom line we are the same human being in that same a person – with the same needs, wants and fears – devoid of race, religion, creed and color! Many of the articles are highly emotive and heart rendering – and that is the reason of adopting the title of Wipe My Tears!

From The Coast is a new Oman TV production series of 30 episodes about Oman and Zanzibar – and is being shown during the Holy month of Ramadhan 2013. Every day after Iftar Breakfast at 19.30hrs. You can find Episode 1 and links to the rest here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1oOXtP2xLU&feature=youtube_gdata_player

The series carry many highly personalized emotional and sensitive topics to many of us all pertaining to the relationships – but particularly to the remaining in the islands of original Omani descent and ancestry! In one case there is an interview with HE The Minister of Foreign Affairs Yousuf Alawi – and his personal take and views on the subject – which was a great eye opener for even me thought well versed with the topic!

The programme refreshes our memories about these bygone glorious days. It is noteworthy that the 25 minute programme directed by Ahmed al Hadri will be shown during the whole of Ramadhan. The director is delighted that he has been able direct a cultural programme that would bring back a beautiful and magnificent life spent in Zanzibar.

There are many other sensitive, dramatic and highly emotional topics – for example in one of the interviwees – who looks all Omani in every aspect – refusing to talk to the TV Crew because ‘he is still angry that he has not been successful to return to Oman’ – though some of his children did! That brings us to the discussion point that there are many families here like him who have families split between those still there – and some who did return. In my own family – I have had uncles and aunts there – with the families there still – and though some of them do still wish to come – with the majority that did come back in the early 1970s – they are not able to!

I believe an Indian crew – and others too for that matter – could also run a similar programme of now as Omanis – but there originality coming from India and the other places too. In one of my returning trips to Oman from a course in UK – there was this British man in front of me for the queue for only Omanis and The GCC. So M being M – without closing his mouth – and removing all doubt! – politely pointed out to him that he was in the wrong queue! To which the good man turned to me waving his Omani passport – and curtly remarking – You mean this will not work here? He cleared faster than I was able to – anyway! And that told me a lot of things – some perhaps I may not have preffered to have heard then! Zanzibar A Zanzibar B   Zanzibar C

Images – Zanzibar & Coast – For Demonstration Purposes Only!

We too have family members that are citizens of other countries all over the world – USA, UK, Canada, India etc – and apart of those that the programme is supposed to cover – from Somalia all the way down to Mozambique even – and to the West of Africa to Ruanda, Burundi, Zaire and The Congos! Part and parcel of the only non-European colonial empire that belonged to Oman then! In some of the places – though under different flags and nationalities – even for the locals – they hold dear close fond memories of their times under The Oman Empire then! A great nation and reckoning power that was able to put its name, records and history – legacy, destiny etc. with colonial nations like British, France and others.

Researchers and social scientists – and in our future Omani youngsters especially – need to make a study of what had happened that this great power went that down that fast – if we even were there before the so-called great colonialists came well after us even – in many cases – and even in history records the colonialists had to come to Oman allegiances to ‘solve many of their problems that they were facing at the time – and Omani allegiances came to save the day for them – and everyone else around them for that matter! Perhaps even we had put too much trust and confidence with others that we thought were our friends – and had our best interests at heart – whilst quietly underground working against us – in harmful destructive wanton ways – whilst we lived in delusion and in wishful thinking!

Zanzibar D Zanzibar E Zanzibar F

Images – Zanzibar & Coast – For Demonstration Purposes Only!

And the same thing being repeated all over again – then and in the later chapters of history – and whilst we continue to have the self induced slumber – because and whilst we look at the smaller things in life – and cannot see the bush because of the trees – the bigger picture – and looking outside the box even! The truth cannot be denied that even great and powerful nations like USA, UK and France – have many minority ethnic citizens that had originated from the other countries – and especially from their ex colonies like UK and France cases – and the later constituting to even more than 10% of the total population even! I was watching this highly emotional programme of under 18 youth in Norway coming together to protect a young girl of 16 – who was inadvertently a Muslim! It made me feel so bad ‘with quick decisions of choosing sides’ that I got it all wrong at the programme start – and as a human being with feelings and care foir others – and human beings coming to do the right, correct and ethical thing – even if late and inadvertently – had made me feel that guilty – that I could not stop the tears even!

Sometimes I just cannot stop admiring the ‘adversary’ – because for countries like in Israel – whether you are black, brown or white – you are a Jew first – and if even they will kick out the ‘original owners of the land’ – to make space for their own people wherever they came from different parts of the world – even from Ethiopia! I read in The Hadith of Allah God of those people that helo and support one another – and wonder out aloud maybe that could be the reason that they are always winning and victorious? One cannot just stop thinking along these lines, anyway! Oman TV should make the programmes translated into English, French, German etc so that a wider audience of the world can get a hold of its great powerful message – of a great powerful Arab Nation – that had not only made and created history in the world – but a force to be reckoned – recognised and to be admired too!

Thanks to Oman TV – and MOI. I have carried a lot of the East African stories in my books – especially The Between Us Only! series – more information here and at www.myownmajid.com – some serious – but many funny anecdotes – and certainly worth reading – and not time-waters! But do not just take my word for it!

Happy 43rd Renaissance Day – May Allah Give HM long life and health – Amin, And for my British fans – great news, indeed, for the new third in line to the throne baby boy – and my guess is he is going to be called Michael?

It is interesting to note that though there were protests pro and against the Turkish Government due to the mall thing – the Turkish army did not step in to ‘protect Democracy’ – but the Egyptians did. The Turkish thing died down quietly after some time – but now increasing in Egypt despite the intervention!

imagesCAAQH5QG

Point out – I am not pro or anti Morsi – as I am not Egyptian – and not my issue! Or my concern in reality!

Arabs and Democracy are far apart!

They just do not match – even after the Arab Springs!

So sad to see the last bastion in the Arabs go down this way into malaise, decay, decadance – wastage and demise – but we Arabs will never learn our lessons!

Very pathetic, sad and tragic!

My Website Was Not Designed To Compete!

My Road Safety Website –

www.bethesafedriver.com

After Compliments;

From My Heart!

You simply cannot change the hearts. minds and souls of people that are jealous and envious of others – and some that I would even go far to say are polarised influenced and racialists – even if they pretend that they are not!

Some centres are well known for their prejuidiced and narrow minded outlooks! Trying to change these people is like banging your head against brick walls – it only gets swollen and red for no added advantage or profit!

When I had designed this website – with the help of my Daughter Engineering Graduate – it was not intended to compete with the bigger NGO ones. It was merely to support my book Being The Safe Driver! Behind The Wheel! The New Road Safety Book – www.createspace.com/4097374

Being The Safe Driver - Front

Oh My God!this-final-book-cover-300x21511.jpg

I was very much hurt and pained by receiving some comments like – Do not expect any kind of support from us because you are not a NGO – and we do not support Individual Schemes like yours! I have also tried to keep in contact and in touch with some High Profile VIPs – but have been largely sidelined, marginalised and ignored!

They only want to remain alone in the news! Nobody else to come in!

I do not know how long these bad hearts and approaches will continue – these jealousies and envies?? It is a bloody shame – a disaster.

I did not write the book or create this website for ‘favours’ from anyone! Trust me when saying this!

I did it because I believed in the cause very strongly. It is my contribution to The Society – to give what I can give and afford to give! If some want to think differently – they are welcome to do so. No one can stop one to think what one wants – or intends to think or do!

Besides I am a 65 years old Omani – retired and with minimum pension income. I wrote the book after seeing this poor young Omani girl at 28 years die tragically with 9 members of her family in a terrible horrific accident!

And seeing the horrible tragic everyday news of Road Accidents fatalities and injuries – everyday in the news! I said – I am an Author! I should write on this! The book idea then formed – and my contribution to Society.

I am not HSE – nor an Engineer. It was the most difficult book for me to write – over 6 months! It is a subject I am not familiar with – and hardly know!

May Allah God Guide us all in the Right Path and Way – Amin Amen

I was very much pained and hurt by some crude remarks received by some after the books were published (USA and India Version). What for? And why all these things? Because it was me who published the book? And the website?

Yet these same peoples go to pray – as if butter will not melt in their mouths!

I am not after Fame and Popularity – if I were I would not be in this position today.

As a result I will not update this website with the Latest News – because my work is already done. Appreciate it or not!

Cover the others as much as you want! I am not jealous nor am I bitter – but my conscience (and heart!) is clean.

Allah God Be With You All – Amin Amen

But it is still so sad and disappointing – that is why we will never succeed or progress. The jealousies and envies will always control our minds and thoughts – and the things that we do! Thinking always Inside The Box and Can Never See The Bigger Picture!

Shame really! Bloody Shame!

Majid Al Suleimany – June 16th 2013.

Mau Mau torture victims to receive Compensation! Reply

Mau Mau torture victims to receive

compensation – Hague

Mau Mau veterans gathered for a press conference on the government announcement

Mau Mau veterans gathered for a press conference on the government announcement

Kenyans tortured by British colonial forces during the Mau Mau uprising will receive payouts totalling £20m, Foreign Secretary William Hague has announced.

He said the UK government recognised Kenyans were tortured and it “sincerely regrets” the abuses that took place.

A lawyer for the victims said they “at last have the recognition and justice they have sought for many years”.

Thousands of people were killed during the Mau Mau revolt against British rule in Kenya in the 1950s.

Mr Hague also announced plans to support the construction of a permanent memorial to the victims in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.

‘Unreservedly condemn’

‘Battered and left for dead’

Kenya torture claimant Wambuga Wa Nyingi

Wambuga Wa Nyingi, 84, detailed his torture at the hands of the British colonial authorities in a witness statement.

He was a tractor driver and member of the pro-independence Kenya African Union – but never took the Mau Mau oath.

He survived the Hola massacre in 1959, when 11 Kenyans were beaten to death by prison guards in a detention camp.

He said: “I was battered on the back of my head and around my neck repeatedly with a club. I believe that the beating went on for up to 20 minutes…

“I lay unconscious with the 11 corpses for two days in a room where the corpses had been placed awaiting burial.

“The people who put me there thought I was also dead, but I was in fact unconscious.”

“I would like to like to make clear now, and for the first time, on behalf of Her Majesty’s government, that we understand the pain and grievance felt by those who were involved in the events of the emergency in Kenya,” he told the Commons.

“The British government recognises that Kenyans were subject to torture, and other forms of ill-treatment at the hands of the colonial administration.

“The British government sincerely regrets that these abuses took place and that they marred Kenya’s progress towards independence.”

Mr Hague said 5,228 victims would receive payments totalling £19.9m following an agreement with lawyers acting for the victims, who have been fighting for compensation for a number of years.

But he said Britain still did not accept it was legally liable for the actions of what was a colonial administration in Kenya.

The British High Commissioner in Nairobi also made a public statement on the settlement to members of the Mau Mau War Veterans’ Association in Kenya.

BBC east Africa correspondent Gabriel Gatehouse said the reaction there was “muted”.

‘Big milestone’

He said it may have been because the announcement had been expected or because it was marred by the UK government continuing to deny liability for some of the abuses.

William Hague: “[We] sincerely regret that these abuses took place”

That said, it was a “big milestone” for the Mau Mau veterans, said our correspondent.

In a statement, Martyn Day, of law firm Leigh Day, said it took “courage to publically acknowledge for the first time the terrible nature of Britain’s past in Kenya”.

“The elderly victims of torture now at last have the recognition and justice they have sought for many years. For them this significance of this moment cannot be over emphasised,” he said.

But Bryan Cox QC, of Tandem Law, said there were “thousands” of further claims that remain unresolved and “the matter was far from over”.

Background

  • The Mau Mau, a guerrilla group, began as a violent campaign against white settlers in 1952
  • The uprising was eventually put down by the British colonial government
  • The Kenya Human Rights Commission says 90,000 Kenyans were executed, tortured or maimed
  • It says 160,000 people were detained in appalling conditions
  • Kenya gained independence in 1963

He said the law firm was working with more than 8,000 Kenyans who were still awaiting an agreement with the UK government.

Mau Mau 5 Jomo Kenyata Mau Mau 6 Mau Mau A

The UK has argued that all liabilities for the torture by colonial authorities was transferred to the Kenyan Republic upon independence in 1963 and that it could not be held liable now.

But in 2011, the High Court in London ruled that four claimants did have “arguable cases in law”.

Their lawyers allege Paulo Muoka Nzili was castrated, Wambuga Wa Nyingi was severely beaten and Jane Muthoni Mara was subjected to appalling sexual abuse in detention camps during the rebellion. A fourth claimant, Ndiku Mutwiwa Mutua, died last year.

‘Historic judgement’

After the ruling, the case went back to the High Court to consider a claim by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) that the actions had been brought outside the legal time limit.

The FCO said it had faced “irredeemable difficulties” in relation to the availability of witnesses and documents.

Wambuga Wa Nyingi, Jane Muthoni Mara, Paulo Muoka Nzili and Ndiku Mutwiwa Mutua outside the Royal Courts of Justice in April

The test case was originally brought by four Kenyans, one of whom has since died

But in October last year, the court ruled the victims had established a proper case and allowed their claims to proceed to trial despite the time elapsed.

At the time, victims’ lawyer Mr Day said he would be pressing for a trial “as quickly as possible” but would also be pushing for the government to reach an out-of-court settlement.

The Mau Mau, a guerrilla group, began a violent campaign against white settlers in 1952, but the uprising was eventually put down by the British colonial government.

The Kenya Human Rights Commission says 90,000 Kenyans were executed, tortured or maimed, and 160,000 people were detained in appalling conditions, although a number of historians believe the figure is lower.

Burmese Buddhists Extremeists Attrocities Against Minorities (Muslims)!

It is time that the Arab and Muslim countries wake up to the atrocities and crimes commited against Rohingyas Muslims!!

We have now holocaust solutions of limiting Muslims only to two children! Are we waiting until they initiate Final Solution like Hitler did to the Jews in the Holocaust?

Arab leaders and stakeholders especially will be asked by Allah on Judgement Day what did they do whilst Muslims were massacred in Burma?

Is it because they are Brown Dark Skinned and have no important resource of oil etc?

The Rohingyas – after the Palestinians – are the most persecuted people in the world!

Whatever a crime of few Muslims the majority should not suffer because of an act of a few!

The irony is after the Bumese President met Obama the atrocities only worsened! Not lessened. It is a slap on the face for Obama and the West – so much occupied for the despicable murder of one British soldiers – but the Rohingyas can go to Hell!

Whilst we looked the other way we lost Palestine. Are we now waiting for the annihilation of the whole Rohingyas race whilst we party and welcome tourists to our lands  – but do not care for the other Muslims because they are poor – and have nothing to give us?

The Burmese Junta are participating in these crimes behind the scenes because of their own hidden agendas. The Buddhists are peaceful loving people in reality but have been hijacked by bloody few Buddhist extremeists and the army.

Extreism and fundamentalism is only Muslims? Shame on the world!

Send home all the Myannamar Buddhists working in the GCC to teach them a lesson! No more trade and relations with them on all fronts!
